Instead, you can express that you felt the laws left you unprotected and describe your own experience.

PART 2 – The Day I Lost Faith in Titles

I never thought I’d be in this situation.

I rented my furnished townhouse to someone who called himself a Christian leader, prophet, and influencer. I expected honesty and respect—but instead dealt with months of unpaid rent, broken promises, and constant stress.

After several months without payment, I stopped covering the electricity bill. The balance hit over $1,600 and the power was shut off.

Within hours, I was told I could face legal consequences.

The tenants demanded I restore power immediately, citing California law. Complaints were filed with the City of Folsom, and I was warned about possible fines.

Let that sink in.

The landlord not receiving rent was under pressure, while the tenant living there for free was protected.

Meanwhile, I was still paying the mortgage, taxes, HOA, insurance, and utilities.

I had no choice but to pay the full balance and restore power that same day. I also served a 3-Day Notice to Pay Rent or Quit.

Again, I was asked for another chance—and I gave it. Looking back, I regret that.

The one thing I insisted on was transferring the electricity account into their name. That decision ended up saving me thousands later.

Over time, I learned I wasn’t the only one affected. Others shared similar experiences, and even the church building they used reportedly ended its arrangement and changed the locks.

Ironically, what finally made them leave wasn’t my notice—it was the summer heat without electricity. No AC, no fridge… it became unbearable.

That’s how I got my townhouse back.

There was damage. The financial loss was significant. But I regained control of my home.

This experience changed me.

A title—pastor, prophet, influencer—doesn’t equal character.

“You will recognize them by their fruits.”

I still believe in forgiveness. But forgiveness doesn’t remove accountability.

So here’s my question:

If someone presents themselves as a Christian leader but repeatedly harms others, should it stay private—or does sharing the truth help protect others?
