Aunt May Will Be Killed Off In Spider-Man 3

Spider-man has had some amazing stories since being introduced in 1962. With one of the best rogues galleries in comics and a relatable origin of being the shy awkward smart kid, the quick witted web swinging hero has had a life full of triumph and tragedy. For every triumph, however, the tragedy has been pretty heavy. The iconic death of his Uncle Ben set him on the heroic tract and gave him his driving principle of power and responsibility that not only fuels the rest of the Marvel Universe but has also made its way to Supreme Court decisions. But not all of the stories have exactly delighted audiences, including the story that made Peter’s identity secret once again. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe Peter was outed by the unscrupulous pairing of Quentin Beck and J Jonah Jameson. In the comic books, Peter’s coming out was on a much more voluntary basis, but it turns out that doing that kind of thing has an inherent ‘no backsies.’ After Peter revealed his identity in support of the Registration Act at the center of Civil War, he switched sides from pro-registration Tony Stark to anti-registration Captain America. The damage had been done however and Peter’s enemies came not just for Peter but the ones he loved. When that ended up being Aunt May, Peter was willing to sell his soul to save her, and Mephisto was more than happy to oblige. WIth Doctor Strange set to make an appearance in Spider-man 3, and House of M almost certainly building, could it be that Spider-man is heading for a version of the One More Day story, and can the MCU make that any good? Let’s find out.
