James Buchanan Barnes, also known as Bucky. A war hero. Captain America’s best friend. He went through hell and back. He was brainwashed by Hydra, and became the Winter Soldier. Bucky helped save the world in the battle against Thanos. And when Steve Rogers went back in time and gave up his shield, we were all sure it was going to be Bucky’s time. Bucky was going to become the new Captain America.

But Instead of getting the shield, Bucky was left with nothing, and the Falcon became the new Captain America.

What if things played out differently and Bucky got the shield instead. Well, with the power of animation, CBR is going to show you what could have happened if Bucky Barnes became Captain America! Bucky didn’t just become Captain America in the comics, it was hinted many times in the MCU that the same could happen on film. However, in the end, no such thing happened

There is of course a good chance that Bucky will eventually get the shield, something that could unfold in the Disney+ show, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. But Bucky’s arc in the Captain America movies was clearly teasing the fact that he will get the shield and become the new Captain America. So in this video we will talk about how it could have all happened, and use some great animation to illustrate key points that should have happened in Avengers: Endgame.
