The world was shocked to hear about the tragic passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman. It’s a huge blow to MCU fans, as Boseman’s portrayal of King T’Challa seemed to be the launching point for the character to become the new face of the MCU in this post-Endgame time. But now, everything has changed and the world mourns the loss of an incredibly talented individual.

As time goes on, there’s going to have to be a tough conversation about what to do with the future of the Black Panther franchise and the characters larger role in the MCU. This is unprecedented territory. What do you do when your lead actor passes away as you just were starting to build him up? Anyone else taking over the role of Black Panther would be jarring, but you can’t just write T’Challa out of the franchise without any explanation. The most important thing is to find a way to continue that both honors the legacy of the character, and pays its proper respect to the actor that brought the character to life.
