Who would Rick get along with best?

Rick & Morty is one of the greatest animated series ever made. At this point they’ve lampooned practically every piece of high concept science fiction pop culture. The problem is that they are starting to run out of material. They even had to do an episode making fun of Dragonheart in season 4. The obvious solution to all their problems is that they need to start looking at an entirely different ocean to fish for ideas. The anime genre would be the perfect subject for Rick & Morty to sink its teeth into.
The show specializes in deconstructing popular narrative tropes through Rick’s god-like genius and incredible habit for self-destruction. These deconstructions often involve hug twists into extreme existential horror all for the sake of a minor joke. That is the perfect comedic structure to take into anime-universes.
Anime is filled with incredibly diverse and popular universes all with their own lore, magic systems and style. It’s also well known for employing a ton of tropes that are just ripe for parody and deconstruction. That’s not even mentioning the characters that are just like Rick.
Could Rick finally find an adversary that could outpunch all of his ideas? Will he compete in a tournament of universal survival? Will he find love in the arms of a ninja-goddess? Would even strawhatted pirates like the idea for “Pirates of the Pancreas”?
Why don’t we find out together? Here are all the anime characters Rick Sanchez needs to meet.
