Wakanda quickly became one of our favorite locations in the entire MCU. It’s beautiful design and its technologically advanced society promised to change the MCU as we know it. But what happened to Wakanda after Thanos snapped his fingers? There’s no way it retained its status as one of the most powerful nations in the world right?
We don’t really know what happened in the five years that passed, but we can speculate that Wakanda was in serious trouble. You could expect a huge power gap as both T’Challa and Shuri were snapped away, leaving the throne completely empty. Who would step up and take it? Would it be M’Baku? Nakia? Ramonda? Okoye? All would be worthy contenders to the throne but they wouldn’t be able to just slide in and take control. And then what happened when T’Challa came back? Would he just assume his previous position as king or would there be a problem with that?
On top of that, think of all the outside threats Wakanda now faces. At the end of the first Black Panther movie, T’Challa revealed Wakanda’s strength to the rest of the world, so what happens if a stronger country or kingdom wants to invade Wakanda to steal away the vibranium? Maybe a kingdom that’s spent thousands of years underwater and is led by one of Marvel’s most popular characters Namor? Either way, Wakanda is in big trouble both internally and externally.
