Venom and Spider-man have always had a symbiotic relationship...literally. Venom is a symbiote that first bonded with Peter Parker and never got over the rejection when Parker got rid of the Klyntarian Symbiote. While Venom and Spider-man go hand in hand in the comics, thanks to the complicated nature of movie rights and the desire to have a franchise, that isn’t as true for the current cinematic Venom. There Eddie Brock is the Venom symbiote’s first love and up until recently it hasn’t even been clear if they exist in the same world as a Spider-man. A lot of that has changed as Sony and Marvel re-negotiated their deal to co-parent Spider-man. Now in the trailers for other Spider-verse characters we’re starting to see hints of connections, from a Spider-man poster to the surprise appearance of Adrian Toomes. With rumors of Peter Parker himself Tom Holland appearing in the new Venom movie there’s now a chance to set things right and have the symbiote bond with the friendly neighborhood Spider-man. What would that bonding look like in terms of the story of the cinematic Venom? What does it mean for the Klyntarians in the MCU and the Sony Verse? Knull and other elements of the Klyntar story like the Exolon Monks and All Black the Necrosword have suggested that the symbiotes exist in the MCU, could they have been set up to be the big menace within the Sony Spider-verse to give it a connection to and autonomy from the MCU.
