Harley Quinn is just about one of the coolest characters to ever appear in any part of the DC universe. Whether she’s on the pages of comic books, animated in a cartoon, or swinging her bat around on the big screen, we just can’t get enough of our girl Harley. But while you may think that she got her start just like any other comic character who transitioned into the movies, you’d be mistaken. Just like her character, the creation of Harley Quinn was unlike any other character who came before her, and she wouldn’t have had it any other way.
There is so much amazing backstory to Harley Quinn, stretching all the way back to the first time she ever appeared in 1992. During Batman: The Animated Series, she was originally supposed to be a one-time character, and yet another one of The Joker’s lackeys. But Harley plays by her own rules, and she immediately caused quite a stir. Fans everywhere were immediately obsessed with the fantabulous Harley, as were the writers and creators of the show!
