Quite often, MCU fans take movies on face value. We invite them lovingly into our lives and enjoy them for what they are – pure entertainment. However, we also know that an incredible amount of work goes into these Avengers movies. What we see in theatres is the product of hours of relentless work. There’s the filming schedule, which often left Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johannsson and the rest of the cast pulverized. Then, there’s the bit we don’t see. Once shooting on superhero movies is wrapped, it’s over to the editing team to turn blockbuster movies like Avengers: Endgame into, well, blockbusters. Directors like James Gunn and Joss Whedon need a team to make their visions come to life.
In any feature there are going to be some scene casualties that end up cut from the film entirely, despite already being filmed. In other cases, writers may desperately want to input a scene or event, but just can’t make it work. While a lot of the footage ends up as bonus content on DVD releases, a lot ends up tucked away in Kevin Feige’s vault. It’s these lost sequences that could’ve had a huge impact on the MCU and how it looks now. In this documentary, we’ll take a look at how these snippets could’ve altered things in a drastic way.
