It’s pretty much an indisputable fact that clowns make us feel uneasy. That’s right, we’re watching you Ronald McDonald. But just what is it about these circus performers that scare us so? And why do some of the best fictional villains choose to take the form of these characters? Today we’re going to talk about how Pennywise the Dancing Clown and the Joker are the same. There are some surprising similarities between them. We’ll reveal why Stephen King chose to have his ancient monster take on such an iconic form and which actor was the real life inspiration for the Joker. Actors Joaquin Phoenix and Bill Skarsgard have portrayed thes characters on the big screen but it’s surprising how similar their methods of getting ready were, and we’re not just talking about spending a lot of time in the makeup department. Even though they may change forms all the time these two still manage to have some over the top similarities to one another. Even though one’s a literal monster and the other is just a figurative one they still have a lot in common. It’s a good thing they exist in different fictional universes!
