The Privileges Goku Has Over Other Dragon Ball Characters

In Shonen action anime, there are a lot of perks to being a main character. You get much more screen time for starters, and the plot generally revolves around you. You’ll often be the fan favorite, or if you’re not your rival will be, who will no doubt be written just to fight you. Of course this couldn’t be more true for Dragon Ball Z. If you think about it, Goku has a pretty awesome life. He spent his childhood days on an amazing adventure to gather the dragon balls and stop the Red Ribbon army. He then grew up to be Earth’s mightiest fighter and defeated every invader that came his way. Goku defeated other Saiyans, the emperor of space and even a magic pink genie demon. Of the Shonen anime protagonists, Goku is perhaps the most privileged in more than just sheer strength. I mean, how many characters in anime, let alone Dragon Ball can cheat death as many times has Goku has? Or survive being on an exploding planet. You would think once would be enough, but Goku has survived six exploding planets. You could say Goku is the luckiest character in the whole series. Of course his privileges aren’t always positive. Goku regularly abandons his family and doesn't seem to face any scrutiny for it. But those are just some of the things Goku can get away with that no one else in Dragon Ball can. Do you think we missed something? Let us know in the comments below.
