Villains come in all kinds. There are villains that are fighting against a real injustice, like Erik Killmonger in Black Panther, there are villains that have deep seated issues with the family he’s fighting against, like Loki in Thor. Some want to conquer the world like the Red Skull and HYDRA. The best ones think they’re the good guys, even if their plan is the absolute worst, like Thanos and his plan to use the Infinity Stones to snap out half of all life in the universe. Motives can make the villain, but what can make a villain truly terrifying is their willingness to sacrifice others for whatever their cause might be. If it’s killing their creators, like Ultron or killing those they created like Ego the Living Planet, the death toll can take a villain from a comic to a horrifying menace.

Over the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there’ve been some relatively deadly villains and some have racked up some impressive body counts. Mad scientists like Aldrich Killian have killed people with science, crime bosses like Kingpin have enforced their way to a big kill count and clans of ninjas have ninja'd their way on the scoreboard by being ninjas, like the ninja clan The Hand. However they do it, they’ve scored high enough on the killings that they’ve earned their spot in the halls of infamy, making them all number one on the heroes’ ‘must thwart’ list. Let's take a look at some of the deadliest MCU villains over the years.
