Avengers: Endgame is a movie event like no other and it’s quickly becoming one of the most successful movies of all time. The movie is so massive that it just had to be three hours long. The whole second hour of the film dealt with the Avengers jumping back to various points in time. We got to revisit New York during the battle against Loki and his Chitauri army, we traveled back to Asgard in 2013, we witnessed Star-Lord dancing to “Come and get Your Love” once again and we got to travel back to the 70’s where we saw Tony Stark sharing an emotional scene with his father.
The Avengers traveled back in time to steal all six Infinity Stones so they could bring them back to their own time and use them to undo the decimation. While they were successful in doing that, not everything went according to plan. Not only did they lose Black Widow, they also ended up messing with the past.
Luckily, in the MCU, the rules of time travel mean that changing the past doesn’t actually change the future of the timeline you came from, but instead creates an alternate timeline.
At the end of the movie, we were led to believe that Captain America traveled back in time to fix the timelines, but we don’t think that’s the case.
We believe that the actions of the Avengers can’t be undone and that all these changes have created multiple alternate timelines, with some of them being messed up forever.
