The History of the Dragon Ball Franchise

If you’re a fan of the Dragon Ball franchise, we have no doubt you know its creator is Akira Toriyama, but it may surprise you to know how many other people were involved in making the series the success it is today. His editor, Kazuhiko Torishima, helped make both “Dragon Ball” and “Dr. Slump” successful, even though he rejected the first few things Toriyama sent him and, when Toriyama couldn’t come up with a name for Goku’s signature move, his wife suggested the now iconic kamehameha. We know everyone loves Goku, but we’ll explain why that is and how our favorite Saiyan almost ended up being quite different than we’re used to seeing him.
