When we put our trust in friends, family, lovers, etc., we open ourselves up in a vulnerable way. We’re putting our faith in those people, so the least they could do is not turn around and betray us. Anime isn’t much different. When we see a character put their trust in someone, we pray to the anime gods above that the trust isn’t misplaced and everything will work out okay...though we know deep-down that things are about to go horribly wrong.
