The trailer for Detective Pikachu was recently released and we’re absolutely pumped for the movie! Loosely based on the video game of the same name that received generally favorable reviews, it’s going to be fun for the whole family. The talkative Detective Pikachu, voiced by Ryan Reynolds, and Tim Goodman, played by Justice Smith, are on a journey to find Tim’s dad who went missing two months ago after getting into a car accident in Ryme City. Along the way, we’re going to see Pikachu and Tim find some clues to solve the mystery and meet some new characters along the way like reporter Lucy Stevens, played by Kathryn Newton, and her trusty Psyduck.

Now, if you expect it to be a live action version of a Pokemon anime movie, well, it’s not quite going to play out like that. You’ll soon find out that there are plenty of similarities and differences between Detective Pikachu and classic Pokemon.
