Anime has some of the most powerful characters in fiction and some of the strongest archetypes of those characters as well. We see larger than life characters come in contact with one another and we don’t always want to see evil opposition. Sometimes, we like to see people make each other better. That’s what a rival is and that’s their job, right? We can see what happens when two powerful characters make each other better. It’s beautiful. It brings a tear to our animated, Otaku eyes.
