When it comes to epic thrilling franchises, Predator is definitely one that comes to mind. We’ve come a long way since Arnold Schwarzenegger encountered the first of these aliens and we’re getting ready to see The Predator in theaters, but before you buy your ticket, check out these surprising facts about the movie.

According to the director Shane Black, there’s a very good reason this movie is rated “R” instead of PG-13. Although he and writer Fred Dekker labored over the script, the actors had a surprising amount of improvisation.
