Goku has evolved a lot since the start of the Dragon Ball series. He started off just catching fish as a little boy and now, he’s a grown man with plenty of responsibilities. Let’s review the major moments in Goku’s life that defined him and made him what he is today.

Since Goku was a child, he has been completely clueless about real world issues and things. He didn’t even know what a girl or a car was until he met Bulma. He didn’t know how to distinguish between a pretty girl from an ugly one even if given two pictures. Since then, Goku goes on several adventures meeting new people and learning things, continuing to grow mentally and physically. He learns martial arts from Master Roshi. Then, he defeats the Red Ribbon Army and King Piccolo. He sacrifices himself to defeat his own brother and learns more martial arts from King Kai. Then, he becomes a Super Saiyan and defeats Frieza. He continues to evolve further as he learns Super Saiyan 3 and then Super Saiyan God. Finally, he learns Ultra Instinct.
