The new season of Game of Thrones is just around the corner, and the new teaser trailer looks amazing. The actors have really brought the characters from the books to life, but with the amount of people who auditioned for the series, we could have been watching an entirely different cast. Daenerys, Jaime Lannister, Cersei, even Jon Snow could have been played by completely different people from the ones we know and love today. There are plenty of actors who were qualified to take the roles like Sam Claflin, Tamzin Merchant, Danny Dyer, and Dominic West, but things just wouldn’t have been the same. We love all of the current actors for the show, and it’s difficult to imagine anyone else playing the parts of the citizens of Westeros, but there was a very real possibility that a lot of the main characters would have completely different actors representing them on the HBO series. Imagine if the parts of Han Solo in Star Wars and Indiana Jones were recast to have someone else behind the blaster pistol and bullwhip. They are such iconic roles played masterfully by Harrison Ford that it is tough to picture anyone else playing the parts, but there are hundreds of people who could have done the job and we could have been looking at an entirely different man underneath that fedora. In show business anything can happen, and Game of Thrones is no exception. It’s hard to see it, but the show could have looked a lot different if these ten actors landed the roles.
