Avatar: Combustion Bending Origins Revealed
Subscribe: bit.ly/Subscribe-to-CBR
The mysterious combustionbenders have appeared twice so far in the whole Avatar franchise. Once in the form of the so-called Combustion Man, or as Sokka would call him Sparky Sparky Boom Man, in Avatar: The Last Airbender. As he literally blew himself up after receiving a hit of Sokka’s mighty boomerang, there is not much we learned about that OP bender. The second time we met with another combustionbender was years later in The Legend of Korra. P’li, another criminal, was a member of the Red Lotus and with her team of elemental benders was set on finishing the Avatar legacy once and for all.
Both can shoot beams through their forehead, and when that transparent beam touches its target, it explodes upon impact. While some have theorized that they use their peculiar third eye tattoo to focus their attacks, I believe there is much more to it. Reddit user Jacob_wallace seems to think that combustionbenders are a form of Avatar created by the Fire Nation. While this is a very interesting idea, I think I can expand it further using some hints found in both series.
In this video I will explain how combustionbenders are inheritors of a dark spirit that goes way back before the creation of the Fire Nation. During the first Avatar’s era, another firebending human merged with a dark spirit which taught him how to combustionbend. This same dark spirit keeps being reborn, a bit like the Avatar, from generation to generation, or as I will explain almost.
Now, press play and prepare to practice the Dragon Dancing technique.
