The world of Avatar is constantly changing. From the Air Nomads’ eradication by the Fire Nation in Avatar: The Last Airbender to their revival thanks to the Harmonic Convergence in The Legend of Korra, this complex universe is in constant evolution. As you know by now, one of my main mission at CBR is to test the extent of elemental bending imagination. I explored woodbending, pure metalbending, smokebending, and other ideas that could expand Avatar’s reach world.
One type of bending, lightning generation, has been fascinating me since it was first shown in the series. The firebending sub-skill went from myth to only being used by a few elite firebenders, to becoming the main source of energy for Republic City. While it has been constantly featured in both series, lightning generation has seen little to no evolution in terms of bending techniques. This prompts the question: would thunderbending be possible?
I believe just like Toph discovered metalbending through earthbending, thunder could eventually be created and controlled. This would make for an ultimate weapon, one that in the wrong hands, could wreak havoc.
In this video I will go over the origin of Azula’s Fire Warriors and use this as a starting point for what will be a more creative video. I will both introduce the order I call the Thunder Knights, explain their goals, before imagining what an earthbending Avatar would look like in a 1980s inspired Republic City.
