Let’s talk about Battlestar. Who is this new man in our atmosphere? Hero? Anti hero? Should Bucky and Falcon trust him? Should we? He’s the new Captain America’s sidekick, and already, they are off to a bad start with their opposite counterparts. We’re going to dive a little deeper into the life and times of the man behind the black gear and triangular shield, and take a closer look at the origin story of Lemar Hoskins.
In the Comics, the Windy City boy became an army man, fighting side by side with John Walker, a.k.a. Super Patriot. After a ton of missions, John Walker wanted the notoriety and power of the many superheroes of the day, and campaigned to do so by hook or by crook. John called upon his former brother in arms to stage a fight on his Super Patriot persona, framed as Freedom Fighters shaking down democracy. Like a pro wrestling match, it was all a hoax and Super Patriot came out on top, giving him the political clout he needed to be crowned as the new Captain America. He in turn named his fellow Super Soldier brethren Lemar Hoskins as his sidekick.
We’ll talk about the Bucky moniker controversy, Lemar’s life as a pro wrestler, the experiments he went under, his possible connection to Black Widow villain Taskmaster, and the future of the MCU as it pertains to Battlestar, the new Cap, and where we’re left in the wake of episode 4 of Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Spoiler Alert: your heart may break a little after seeing it. Oh no, I’ve said too much!
