The Falcon and the Winter Soldier delivered it’s most jaw-dropping entry yet with episode 5, entitled Truth. It kicked the plot into high gear and left us all wondering just how this show is going to resolve all of its dangling plot lines in just one episode. It also had a surprising name drop in regards to Baron Zemo. After Bucky made his amends with Zemo and chose not to kill him, the Dora Milaje showed up, exerting their jurisdiction and said they were hauling Zemo off to The Raft.
Wait a minute. The Raft? You mean the supermax prison in the middle of the ocean designed to house the world’s worst superpowered criminals? Yes that’s the one! After being introduced in Captain America: Civil War when Team Cap was locked up at the Raft, we were left wondering just what was in store for the future of the super prison. Although there were a few mentions in the Netflix Marvel shows like Jessica Jones, it was unclear if we’d ever see it in the official MCU ever again. But now here’s the big question. Why is Zemo being sent there? Wouldn’t the Wakandans prefer to take him back to the their own nation to stand trial for the death of King T’Chaka? The only reason I can think of for Zemo being sent to the Raft is that his story isn’t over yet. Is it just a coincidence that Zemo in the comics leads a supervillain team named the Thunderbolts, and that the Thunderbolts program is usually run out of the Raft in the comics? I hope not!
So join us today as we talk all about the importance of the Raft to the MCU. We’ll go into its past and its possible future! So be sure to check out the video and like and subscribe to CBR for more awesome MCU content like this. Thanks for watching! Let’s get started.
