In the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League, Superman wears a darker version of his iconic suit. What is the purpose of this suit and what does it mean for the Man of Steel? In this video, we explore all that and much more.
In DC Comics, The Last Son of Krypton is most often seen wearing his iconic blue and red suit, a symbol of his American heritage. What does it mean then when he is wearing a much darker suit? Well, not all that much actually as he does not change his ideals or who he is as a person when he wears the black suit.
The black suit of The Man of Tomorrow Last Son of Krypton is also known as the “recovery suit” represents a state of transition for the man of steel, first seen after his death upon his resurrection. The recovery suit represents a much weaker version of the superhero, one who is incapable of even the ability to fly.
The recovery suit assists Kal-el in regaining his power as it draws energy from the sun at a more rapid rate. It also provides him with flight boots which, while not nearly as fast as his typical flying, allows him to become airborne in his weakened state.
Superman’s black suit has become an iconic one for the Man of Steel as it represents the return of earth’s greatest hero. Plus, it just looks plain cool. It's no wonder why it's one of the most popular and endearing suits for Supes. Even though he may look different in his dark attire, he’s still the same Man of Tomorrow we know and love.
