15 Marvel Heroes Who Became The Black Panther

Black Panther is one of the most unique superheroes in all of Marvel comics and the MCU. It’s a little different in the way one becomes a Black Panther. It’s not like a radioactive spider bit someone or one person was kidnapped and built an Iron suit in a cave somewhere. No, the Black Panther is the overall superhero and protector of Wakanda, and it’s a mantle that’s been passed down for generations.

Obviously, the most famous Black Panther is T’Challa, who thanks to Chadwick Boseman’s incredible performance, introduced casual viewers to the character as the King of Wakanda. Then of course, the world suffered a great loss when Boseman tragically passed away, which was followed by the announcement that the MCU and Disney would not recast T’Challa in the future. This has led to a lot of discussion about the future of the Black Panther character. And with all the hype around Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, we thought it would be a good time to discuss all the other characters who have been Black Panther in the Marvel Comics.

For example, did you know Erik Killmonger was the Black Panther for a bit? A lot of fans do, which is why so many people would want to see Michael B. Jordan somehow return to the MCU to take up the Black Panther mantle. Other notable Black Panthers include T'Challa's sister Shuri, Ororo Munroe aka Storm, Captain America and even a version of Venom! Talk about crazy!
