Avatar Aangs’ Greatest Enemy Revealed

If you’ve read The Last Airbender comics, then one of your favorite trilogies is undoubtedly The Rift. It introduced us to quite a few characters, most notably General Old Iron. The General was arguably Aang’s toughest battle in the series, including both the animated show and the comic books. Old Iron was a giant humanoid spirit who was the protector of the spirit Lady Tienhai. He brokered a deal with Yangchen over 100 years ago that no one would live on his land, but that deal was unknowingly broken when the Earthen Fire Refinery, a joint project between the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation, was created.

Now, it’s up to the current Avatar to fix the mistakes these people made by building essentially an entire city on Old Iron’s land. The battle with General Old Iron was incredibly fierce and Aang would have lost if not for Toph and her metal-bending students bending the iron out of the General’s suit. They’re the reason why Twinkle Toes (Toph Joke) was able to hit the spirit with a final blow in the Avatar State to take him down for good.
