Howard’s son went on to become one of the greatest heroes the MCU will ever see. The man who built some of the greatest technology with nothing but a box of scraps in a cave proved to have an incredible impact on the Universe as we know it. With the new show examining alternate realities created by small decisions, we have seen a drastic change to World War 2 and who actually picked up Howard’s vibranium shield. It stands to reason that one character who had such an impact would cause significant changes in the world with any sort of decisions he would make differently, or if he was never there at all. But who else could fill the shoes of the first Avengers recruit?

We’ve already seen Steve Rogers take on some version of an armored hero. When an injury stopped him from being Captain America it was clear that his heroic spirit made him destined for greatness, even without a super-soldier serum. Howard would see to it that Steve would take on a similar mantle held to our hero. This shows us that characters who have shown us traits in alternate realities will carry those traits on. So without the golden boy, someone will fulfill his genius, and someone will absolutely fulfill some of the heroic acts he has done. However, the MCU would be greatly changed if an alternate reality saw someone else become the armored hero. After all, you can imitate but never duplicate.
