The Black Symbiote’s second movie is dividing audiences everywhere. Yes, it ended with a big fight against Cletus Kasady, and teased a game changing shift in the franchise thanks to the monumental post credit scene, but that ignores the plight of Patrick Mulligan. Throughout the film, Stephen Graham’s character, Detective Mulligan, was always one step behind Eddie and Cletus, but that looks like his luck is about to change. Although we thought he perished in the final act, it turns out, Mulligan is alive and seemingly infected with a piece of the symbiote, as evidenced by his glowing blue eyes. This is a set up for a new symbiote to emerge. One that’s more powerful than both Eddie’s black one and Cletus’s red one. This new symbiote could change everything, but now it’s only a question about where and when will it cross paths with Eddie and his BFF again.

Will it be in a new third movie of the trilogy? Will it happen in Spider-Man: No Way Home? Will this new symbiote stay bonded with Patrick forever or will it pick a new host like Bren Waters? Is this new symbiote enough a threat for Eddie to establish his own version of the Sinister Six that includes Morbius and Kraven the Hunter? Now that would amazing to see!
