The MCU has given us a whole magnificent collection of scary, tragic, funny and destructive villains over the years, and most of the time, they’ve been pretty memorable. Sure, early on in the MCU’s run, the franchise was accused of having a “villain problem” with them struggling to make their one-off villains truly engaging and interesting, but somewhere along the line, the MCU cracked the code. Though, throughout the years, there’s been a nagging issue with a lot of villains in the MCU and its that oftentimes, their comic book counterparts are way stronger than what’s on the screen.
And even though that’s overall understandable since movies need to wrap up with our heroes winning in about two hours, it creates a scenario where sometimes villains don’t live up to their full potential. Loki is a fan-favorite character now, but what has he really done power-wise in the MCU? Yes, he’s beaten Alioth with some help, but that’s really nothing compared to all his schemes and tricks in the comics that have caused unimaginable suffering over the years. Or Ultron is supposed to be this highly advanced A.I. that can never truly be beaten, but the MCU quickly shut that robot down! Even Justin Hammer, who was more of a joke character in Iron Man 2 had more to do in the comics! I’m just saying, there’s plenty of examples where Marvel villains were stronger in the comics then what we saw on screen.
So join me as I discuss all of the best Marvel villains who didn’t reach their full comic potential. After you’re done, be sure to hit that big like and subscribe button for more awesome Marvel content like this! And don’t forget to leave a comment! Thanks for watching CBR, let’s get started.
