Why Gollum Didn't Age Without the Ring but Bilbo Did in LOTR

When Bilbo gives up the One Ring in The Lord of the Rings, he ages very quickly, but Gollum doesn't. Is this a J.R.R. Tolkien continuity error or could it be something else? The Hobbit, through the the Two Towers, and the Return of the King, LOTR, Middle Earth and Arda lore is tight-knit and the standard bearer for cinematic universe and blockbuster franchise movie continuity. But even so, some errors and cannon are bound to happen. That being said, this is why Gollum or Smeagol didn’t age without the One Ring but Bilbo Baggins did in The Lord of the Rings!
