Do not rush to throw an empty can in the trash, because it can be used to make an excellent and completely safe potato cutter for spiral slicing potatoes.
How to make a safe device for spiral slicing potatoes
We remove the paper sticker from the empty tin can and drill 2 holes in its bottom: one in the center, the other closer to the edge.
We draw a straight line along the ruler between the holes and make a slot along it with a knife or a grinder.
Next, with a knife or a flat screwdriver, we separate the sides of the slot parallel along the entire length in the vertical direction. The upper edge of the slot is sharpened with a small file or sandpaper. After all, it will interact with the potatoes and cut them.
Then we cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle and install the can inside the bottom with the open side down and evenly warm up the cylindrical part of the bottom with a hairdryer for heat shrinkage and tight girth of the base of the can. If there is no hair dryer, you can wrap the tape.

Drill a hole in the center of the plastic bottom.
Taking into account the height of the jar with a bottom made of a steel rod, double bending one end in different directions and, sharpening the other, we perform the gate. If there is no metal rod, you can use wooden skewers.
In the plastic bottle cap, we drill a hole in the center for the collar and 2 smaller ones, into which we tightly screw 2 screws from the inside.
On the side surface of the lid we make a recess under the collar.
We insert the collar into the central hole of the lid from the inside until its vertical part is fixed in the recess. Fill the lid completely with thermo glue and let it dry.
We string the potato on the collar rod until it stops so that the ends of the screws enter the vegetable and fix it on the collar. We insert the end of the collar rod sequentially into the hole in the tin can and the plastic bottom.
Rotate the potato collar with one hand, holding the jar with the other, until only the thin base of the vegetable remains on the collar. Pull out the collar together with the lid, twist the rest of the potato with your hand.
We remove the plastic bottom from the jar and pull out the potato. We insert a wooden skewer into the hole made by the collar, push the coils along the skewer and get a beautiful potato spiral.
