Full spoilers for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ahead! With Season 1, Episode 2 of Marvel's The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ showcasing the new Captain America, John Walker (Wyatt Russell), who is proving to be a villain to our two heroes Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky (Sebastian Stan), as well as putting the spotlight on Karli Morgenthau (Erin Kellyman), leader of the Flag Smashers, who may not be as evil as we originally thought when she helped execute the robbery that left Joaquin Ramirez (Danny Ramirez) bruised and bloodied.
So we interviewed Wyatt Russell and Erin Kellyman about their Falcon and Winter Soldier characters John Walker and Karli Morgenthau to interrogate the idea of whether they are good, evil, or somewhere in between. As we saw in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 2 "The Star-Spangled Man" the answer isn't clear for either of them, with the new Captain America seemingly taking on a more evil and villainous guise at the end of the episode, just as Flag Smasher started to seem more sympathetic as she ran from the mysterious Power Broker. The actors offered some insight into their characters' mindsets and how they view the titular heroes Sam and Bucky, each other, and what they think of a bonafide MCU villain, Helmut Zemo (Daniel Brühl).
Is the new Captain America evil? Is Flag Smasher evil? We don't quite know yet, but these interviews will help you learn more about each character, and we'll ultimately have to wait for Episode 3 of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and the rest of Season 1 on Disney Plus to find out. Do you think Wyatt Russell and Erin Kellyman are playing villains in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier? Or will they become something else entirely? Comic book fans know that the new Captain America John Walker eventually becomes US Agent, so we have an idea there, but what about Flag Smasher? We'll have to wait and see.
