In today's IGN The Fix: Entertainment, while fans who campaigned to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut may have gotten what they wanted with the release of Zack Snyder's Justice League, it seems HBO Max did not. The Zack Snyder Justice Leaguemovie didn't pull in as many subscribers as Warner was hoping for, in regards to their HBO Max streaming platform. What does this mean for the DCEU going forward? Well, these kinds of numbers aren't much incentive for Warners to reverse their decision to not move forward with the Snyderverse, so don't expect the studio to invite Zack Snyder back to finish his Justice League trilogy or continue on with the Snyderverse in general. Will we see a "restore the Snyderverse" movement take off? The Justice League Snyder Cut was a big win for fans, but the numbers just weren't there on HBO Max.
In other entertainment news, there's a Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special brewing over at Disney+, which will apparently take place within the MCU timeline. Director James Gunn took to Twitter Thursday, showing off the first draft of the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special script, as well as taking part in a mini Q&A with fans. The Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special will air on Disney Plus next year in 2022. How do you feel about this upcoming Marvel Disney show? And finally, It was reported by Deadline back in March that Russell Crowe would be joining the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder, with his role described as a "fun cameo". Now, according to a recent interview on the Joy Breakfast with The Murphys podcast, Russell Crowe confirms he'll be none other than the Greek God, Zeus! Russell Crowe is just one of many celebrities we can look forward to making a cameo. The film will feature another "play within a play" featuring Matt Damon, Sam Neil, Melissa McCarthy and Luke Hemsworth as Loki, Odin, Hela and Thor, respectively.
