With esports exploding in popularity and tournaments offering eye-wateringly large prize pools, becoming a pro gamer is a demanding career. We spoke to two members of Team Liquid’s Valorant team to see what it takes to be a professional esports player. Sponsored by Alienware.

Team Liquid’s Valorant coach Connor “Sliggy” Blomfield and player Dom “soulcas” Sulcas discuss the life of a pro gamer, their training schedule, the number of hours they play and how they play together as a team. Team Liquid’s Alienware training facility in Utrecht, Amsterdam is specially designed to get the most out of players, providing them with a chef and sports psychologist. Both players talk about the hardware required to play esports at a professional level, such as processors, graphics cards, refresh rate, and their preferences for keyboard, mouse and headsets. Gaming laptops, such as the Dell Alienware M15 r5 are used for gaming on the go and playing games like Valorant at a high level.
