Humankind Cultures of Africa is the era-spanning strategy title’s first DLC that expands the game’s roster of playable cultures across every era, as well as new natural and cultural wonders to discover. From ancient Bantu to modern day Nigeria here’s a look at every new playable culture. Sponsored by SEGA.
Throughout Humankind as players progress through eras they are given the choice to pick a new culture. Each culture is associated with one of seven affinities: Aesthete, Militarist, Expansionist, Builder, Agrarian, Merchant and Scientist which dictate their general playstyle and grant them an affinity action and affinity bonus. Cultures also have unique emblematic quarters to place in cities and emblematic units to add to their army’s ranks. Legacy traits are bonuses that reward you for picking that culture and stay with you even after you’ve moved into another era. After earning one era star in the Neolithic Era players move on to the Ancient Era, followed by, Classical Era, Medieval Era, Early Modern Era, Industrial Era and Contemporary Era.
The Bantu are expansionists, their emblematic district and unit are Mupia fields and Bagendi Pioneers. The Garamantes are playable in the classical era, fight with their Javelin Riders and place their district, the Foggara, to generate food. Swahili need the sea to prosper, fight and explore with the Mtepe unit and generate resources with the Bandari district. The Maasai are home to the Maasai Moran unit and the Enkang unique district. The Ethipoians have the Amba emblematic district, a fortress built in a mountain, and the Oromo Cavalry unit. In the contemporary era, play as the Nigerians with their MRAP unique unit and the oil refinery district. Developed by Amplitude Studios, Humankind Cultures of Africa DLC is out now on PC.
