Sancticide is a third-person perspective (TPP) action game with rogue-lite elements, set in a world inspired by the biblical Apocalypse.
Players assume the role of Ezechiel, a newly recruited Sin Collector, tasked with eradicating sin and filth for the glory of God during the End Times.
The game features a distinctive combat system that combines elements of arena fighters and TPP action games, emphasizing spatial and directional awareness.
Players can utilize a variety of melee and ranged weapons, as well as "Purple" powers—otherworldly abilities that manipulate physical space—to gain tactical advantages in battles.
Each enemy is uniquely designed, allowing players to quickly assess their capabilities and threat levels, similar to differentiating pieces in a game of chess.
Death in Sancticide serves as a learning experience, enabling players to adapt their strategies in a persistent world where each run advances the narrative.
The concept of "Kosherness" influences gameplay, affecting side quests, relationships with NPCs, equipment choices, and access to certain areas.
The storyline delves into Ezechiel's challenging mission, exploring themes of remorse and guilt, while side quests offer insights into the daily life of a Sin Collector.
The game is being developed by Red Square Games and Sylen Studio, with an initial release date planned for 2025.
A demo version is currently available on Steam, providing players with a glimpse into the game's mechanics and world.
Sancticide aims to offer a unique blend of action and strategy, set against a richly detailed apocalyptic backdrop.
