Jodie Resther, a Montréal native, embodies creative revival on her own thanks to her sphere of influence and her innovate way of mixing different styles together. She is a young woman tearing down the barriers and borders. She creates her own musical identity each day.
This many-sided artist has her own musical identity, fruit of her cultural crossing. Born of Québécois father and of a Jamaican mother, the young singer managed to combine her origins and to integrate them to her unique style, the ragasoul. The ragasoul includes not only the Caribbean's feel good rhythms but also those of world beat music. Whether we think of Bob Marley, of Youssou N'Dour or of ragasoul, their similarities reside in their desire to supply humanity with positive energy. This type of music broadens our horizons and creates a permanent bridge enabling us to go in search of beauty and diversity in all that is unknown to us. Jodie's deep and lustful voice gives a bewitching signature sound to all of her tracks. The word raga originates from Sanskrit and means color and passion. It describes this young artist with accuracy, whose presence on stage and vocal strength remind us of Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill.
Jodie gets involved in all aspects of musical creation. Aside from writing her own songs, she also composes her melodies in collaboration with renowned Canadian, French and American producers. She sings in English, in French and in ragga.
