VÉRITÉ has had an intriguing career arc. The electro-pop chanteuse was in an all-girl punk band during her middle school years, began penning her own songs when she was 16, and studied visual art in college – which coincided with the start of a decade-long stretch of music making (occasionally buttressed monetarily by Times Square waitress gigs). Her 2014 EP, 'Echo,' highlighted by “Strange Enough,” showcased her evocative sound. She's since released two more EPs and enjoyed a huge boost when her cover of the 1975's “Somebody Else” became a viral sensation. We had Lizzy Plapinger connect with her to celebrate the arrival of 'Somewhere In Between,' her new album that dropped in June and features the majestically moody singles “When You're Gone” and “Phase Me Out.” They discussed its creation, and VÉRITÉ says that she had one goal: to “have it be a [true] statement and captivate attention from beginning to end,” says the singer who claims to always be in some sort of existential crisis. “I didn’t want to make an album with 13 versions of the same song.”
