On one particularly warm summer night, The Bearded Man and a lovely lady friend made their way south from San Diego. It was her idea: They parked on the U.S. side of the border, and took a bus to Tijuana. At first, everything appeared normal — touristy to be sure, but normal. They discovered a festive looking cantina and decided to stop for tacos. The waiter came and took their order and went back to the kitchen. At about the exact same moment, another bartender came out blowing a whistle constantly with two gun holsters that were filled with two bottles of tequila. Without asking or saying a word, he expertly forced The Bearded Man to drink a shot straight from the bottle, not taking no for an answer. After the unwanted shot, the bartender demanded cash for the shot he just poured. The girl had to literally cover her mouth with both of her hands to prevent the same thing from happening to her. They got out of there in a flash, but that was just the beginning... As the sun started to set, things began to get very weird indeed. They were lost, and they had a strong suspicion that they had missed the last bus back. Long story short, they ended up taking the scariest taxi of their lives (her idea), which wouldn’t even get them back across the border. The Bearded Man came up with the idea of just walking across the border - a long and highly sketchy endeavor. They still laugh about the ordeal to this day, and refer to it as the day that A) her way was wrong, and B) The Bearded Man found his way back home.
