Kacy Hill laces her dark pop songs with a beguiling blend of vulnerability and strength…and a powerful visual style. The 23-year-old woman behind “Foreign Fields” and “Like a Woman” is an Arizona native who hit LA at the age of 18 and started a modelling career that found her working on an American Apparel campaign that was ultimately spotted by Italian performance artist Vanessa Beecroft, a Kanye West collaborator. All of a sudden Hill was part of a gaggle of dancers on the Yeezus tour, and ultimately her own music found its way to the rap icon himself. Now she’s signed to G.O.O.D Music, and her ‘Like a Woman’ disc dropped this past June, so we headed to Hollywood to find out more about Hill and her songs. She tells interviewer Kim Taylor Bennett that there was lots of self-discovery making the tracks, that the songs are all based on real experiences, and that they centered on being alone and pushing people away to learn more about herself. The ladies connected while lifting weights and pigeon-stretching in the gym.
