Vevo Meets: EZI
On “Redemption,” the breakthrough single by EZI, the captivating singer transforms the fallout from a painful breakup into a message of strength: “It's delicate, it's how I'm made / I use these moments to create.” Esther Zynn, who hails from Long Island, NY, first expressed her creativity as an actress, most notably portraying Princess Astral on the 2016 Nickelodeon series 'The Other Kingdom.' But music is her other lifelong passion and, after a chance meeting with fashion designer Steve Madden at one of his stores, she was signed to his new label, 5Towns Records. EZI channels a diverse range of influences – from Robyn and Florence + the Machine to Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spektor and newer artists like Elohim and K. Flay – in her alluring electro-pop, which will be on display when her five-song EP drops soon. In our Vevo Meets interview, she explains how she started making tracks, recalls seeing Fergie sing "Big Girls Don't Cry" as an 11-year-old, and reveals her skills at making guacamole toast.
