In 2013 Tove Lo released “Habits (Stay High)” a song about getting wasted to avoid addressing heartbreak. Part of her ‘Queen of the Clouds’ debut, it became a sleeper smash, and kicked off a career that has brought fans a string of impressive tracks, including “Talking Body,” “Cool Girl,” and “disco tits.” The 30-year-old Swede has penned tunes for Lorde, Icona Pop, Ellie Goulding and others, but she really nails it with her own songs, which are by turns refreshingly vulnerable and sexually forthright. Vevo’s Kim Taylor Bennett connected with the singer at Elsewhere in Brooklyn on the release day of her third LP, ‘Blue Lips,’ aka ‘Lady Wood Phase II.’ Their chat went to several places, but she tells Bennett that singing and writing are “a great way to express the ‘out of the norm’ feelings that I can’t say or else people would think I’m crazy. It’s a way to get my crazy out.”
