Carrie Lucas is an American R&B performer born in Carmel, California. “Simply Carrie” was Lucas’ debut album released in 1977 by Soul Train Records. The album immediately stood out from other R&B offerings of it’a era for excellent musicianship on the arranging, vocal, and instrumental frontiers. Lucas went on to record 5 more records over the next 7 years and marry producer and label founder Dick Griffey.
