When Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick (then known as MC Ricky D) dropped “La Di Da Di” in 1985, they unknowingly provided the blueprint for hundreds of tracks. In a 2014 TED Talk, Mark Ronson claimed that the song has been sampled or interpolated over 500 times since its release, popping up in songs across many genres.
