Mud walking on the Wadden Sea in The Netherlands

Mud walking (wadlopen) is a curious Dutch tradition. During low tide the ocean recedes and you can hike through the mud flats that remain across the Wadden Sea to the Wadden Islands. We traveled to Paesens-Moddergat, a village in Friesland, to try it out. We encounter sandy shoals, mussel beds, sandbars and more!
