R.I.P Meat Loaf.
Yesterday, January 20, 2022, Meat Loaf has died at the age of 74.
The news was confirmed on the star's Facebook page by his family.
"Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side," a message read.
The Bat Out of Hell star sold 100 million albums worldwide and appeared in movies like Fight Club, the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wayne's World.
American composer and songwriter Jim Steinman has passed away at the age of 73.
Steinman is best known for his collaboration with Meat Loaf. With him he experienced his greatest success with the huge hit Paradise by the Dashboard Light.
Michael Lee Aday (born Marvin Lee Aday; September 27, 1947), better known by his stage name Meat Loaf, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is noted for his powerful, wide-ranging operatic voice and theatrical live shows.
His 'Bat Out of Hell' trilogy of albums (consisting of Bat Out of Hell, Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, and Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose) has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. Almost 40 years after its release, Bat Out of Hell still sells an estimated 200,000 copies annually and stayed on the charts for over nine years, making it one of the best selling albums in history.
'Bad Attitude' is the fourth studio album by Meat Loaf and was released in November 1984. Recorded in England, it features two songs by Jim Steinman, both previously recorded, and a duet with Roger Daltrey. According to Meat Loaf's autobiography, he approached Steinman about writing the entire album, but waiting for new songs wound up taking so long that Meat Loaf recorded two previously released Steinman songs and moved on with other writers.[2] The album concentrates more on the hard rock side of Meat Loaf, was a minor success around the globe and released a few hit singles, the most successful being "Modern Girl".
'Modern Girl' was the first single of the 1984 'Bad Attitude' album, which also included two Jim Steinman songs. It reached #41 in the US charts and #17 in the UK charts.
This exclusive TopPop recording was first broadcast on 1 October 1984.
