In this Christmas program and end-of-the-year broadcast of 1980, TOPPOP invited a host of artists in the TOPPOP studio, which was specially decorated for the occasion.
It was also broadcasting the end result of Hitkrant’s (Hollands leading teenager music magazine at the time) Pop Poll results with the majority of winners in the studio: Golden Earring, Rob de Nijs, Patricia Paaij, BZN, Renée, Spargo, the Dolly Dots, The Mo and Maurice & Verdine White of Earth Wind and Fire.

The show features a selection of Christmas performances:

• Jona Lewie – ‘Stop The Cavalry’
• Suzanne Michaels – ‘It Should Be Christmas Every Day’

• Roland Kaiser – ‘Santa Maria’
• The Dolly Dots – ‘Jingle Bells’

This show was recorded in the TOPPOP studios in Hilversum The Netherlands, 26 December 1980.

TopPop was the first regular dedicated pop music TV show in the Dutch language area. Dutch broadcaster AVRO aired the programme weekly, from 1970 to 1988. Presenter Ad Visser hosted the show for its first fifteen years.
