This week we highlight this video to commemorate Talk Talk's singer and composer Mark Hollis' unfortunate death two years ago on February 25, 2019.
Talk Talk were an English rock band formed in 1981, led by Mark Hollis (vocals, guitar, piano), Lee Harris (drums), and Paul Webb (bass). They had successes with the synth-pop singles the hitdingles "It's My Life" and "Such a Shame" (both 1984). Later they moved on to make more experimental music in the mid-1980s, with music that became known as post-rock.
"Such a Shame" was inspired by Luke Rhinehart's The Dice Man, one of composer Mark Hollis' favourite books. When asked what drove him to respond to Rhinehart's book, Hollis replied, "A good book, not a lifestyle I'd recommend."
This video was recorded on 3 May 1984 in the TopPop studios in the Netherlands
