TEARS OF THE RAINFOREST from Brazilian composer and keyboardist Corciolli is an effort to portray the sad reality of deforestation in the Brazilian rainforests;
Presenting a brief orchestral introduction followed by piano arpeggios that lead into a sublime violin interpretation by Pablo de Léon, spalla of the São Paulo Municipal Symphonic Orchestra. Then, it adds to the lyrical counterpoint of the cello of Raïff Dantas Barreto, orchestrations and textures developed with the use of various synthesizers, characteristic of Corciolli´s work.
The artist’s aim is to propose a much needed reflection on this crucial issue: Recent satellite images reveal that the Amazon has lost 18% of its rainforests over the last three decades. It is an alarming fact that most of the deforestation has occurred in protected areas, Indigenous reserves and quilombola settlements, which should be entirely preserved. The harmful impact on the biome is incalculable, showing that the pressures of agribusiness interests, allied with the excessive greed and disregard of the authorities, are a lethal combination for the Brazilian rainforests, which weep their destruction.
